All About Vincent Omamo

Growing up I learned the subject of art at the Mwangaza Art School in Nyalenda Slum, Kisumu.

Since then I have dedicated almost all of my life to the things I consider to be art and crafts.

In my craft work I like to use natural, sustainable or recycled products such as water hyacinth, palm leaves etc. I am also turning my hand to recycled motorcycle tyres.

My paintings mainly centre around local traditions, local lifestyle and the environment. I stretch all of my canvases from scratch - making the frames using wood and tacks.

Over many years I have taught art in a multitude of places to all sorts of people. Including fun, expressive groups for children, in children's homes - One Vibe Africa & Dunga Orphanage Project - and also in people's homes. I have also taught lots of adults one to one and in groups.

In my free time away from arts and crafts I spend my time with my family and my passion for making live music. At the Fish Fiesta 2023 my band and I played for 2 hours - I was on the drums!
